TEACHERS' UNION

The partnership with the teachers’ union will be important to the success of your dual language immersion (DLI) program, as the specific need for highly qualified teachers who are certified to teach in the target language may necessitate the union’s support.

Various aspects of the DLI program may need an informal or formal agreement with the union

  • It is recommended that teachers that are assigned to the program be placed on a separate seniority list to protect the program, as it requires a specialized credential.
  • If there is a stipend or additional release days that will be offered to teachers in the DLI program, an agreement may need to be negotiated with the union.
