BOARD/DISTRICT
It is important to involve the school board and the district and seek their support early in planning for the dual language immersion (DLI) program, since they will be approving important decisions and supporting the ongoing needs of the DLI program. (Refer to Module 1: Leadership Team)
- Districts may require a board action to adopt the DLI program.
- They may ask for a board study session prior to a board meeting to consider the request and then vote on it at the next board meeting to give them time to deliberate.
- The district will designate the location for the DLI program and identify the DLI program structure (90:10 or 50:50) and implementation (whole school, strand within a school, etc.). models.
