Special Education staff representation on the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Leadership Team is also important.

  • Students in DLI programs may require Special Education support and services, so understanding the DLI program well and having a voice in the decisions that may affect the support and delivery of Special Education services will be beneficial for all.
  • The identification and assignment of Special Education staff that are bilingual to the site(s) with the DLI program should be discussed.
  • The Special Education staff’s expertise in assessment may also prove to be valuable when making decisions about the language assessment that will be used in the DLI program.
