IMPLEMENTATION MODEL
The first decision that the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Leadership Team should make is to determine how the DLI program will be implemented, either as a whole school or a strand within a school program. (Refer to Module 2: Program and Implementation Models, “Implementation Models”)
- In a whole school program, all classrooms in the school are implementing the DLI program model based on the grade level being taught.
- All students in the school are enrolled in the DLI program.
- All teachers in the school teach in the DLI program.
- The teachers that teach in the target language have their state credential/authorization to teach in the target language.
- In the strand within a school program, a dedicated number of classrooms at each grade level are implementing the DLI program model based on the grade level being taught.
- All the students in these classrooms are enrolled in the DLI program.
- The teachers that teach in the target language have their state credential/authorization to teach in the target language.
