PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Create and publish informational materials on your dual language immersion (DLI) program to disseminate in the district, at the site, and in the community to promote the DLI program. (See also Refer to Module 8: Student Recruitment and Parental Involvement, “Public Relations”)
The purpose of the promotional materials will be two-fold: to garner community support for the DLI program as well as for program recruitment. All promotional materials should be available in English and the target language.
There are many ways to disseminate DLI program information:
- District and school website
- Information regarding the DLI education program should be easily accessed by the community from on the home page for the district and school websites.
- Brochure
- A colorful, informative brochure is a great way to spread the word about the DLI program. It should include:
- The DLI program rationale, vision, and mission statement, along with the school site(s) where the DLI education program will be located.
- Date, time, location of any informational sessions for the DLI program
- Enrollment information and deadlines for the DLI program
- Other areas to consider highlighting include:
- Benefits to students in the DLI program (short- and long-term)
- Commitment needed from parents and students enrolling in the DLI program
- District and site commitment to parents and students in the DLI program
- Have printed copies in English and the target language available at the district office, the school site, and at community locations where parents and their children who may be interested in the DLI program frequent.
- Have an electronic copy of the DLI brochure available in English and the target language on the district and school website.
- A colorful, informative brochure is a great way to spread the word about the DLI program. It should include:
- Posters
